the water froze and burst

We live in the volunteer apartment building. The unit upstairs and over was left with a window open and the pipe burst. Good news: cement block building and we didn't get wet. Bad news: No water and no heat. James turned the water off to the building and we started mopping up, wet vac, pulling tiles down and finding as many fans as we could. The maintenance men came and helped and we got the the water up and the heat back on. This morning we were planning to go 45 mins to Crownpoint to the CRC there but the roads were icy so we stopped at Church Rock CRC just in time for Sunday School. The service was after and we sang in English and hymns in Navajo. They take it "up a notch" after. Rather than just cookies and coffee...every Sunday is hot dogs, chips, cake and punch. We had lunch. We drove into Red Rock Park and then stopped for Fry Bread off the street. It is like elephant ears - yum and only $1.

  1. Happy New Year to the Dirksen family :-) We are enjoying reading about your travels, always LOL moments! Glad you made it safely and tell Clare that Kenna agrees with her about the 50-1 dollar bills. Sara, I was sorry to hear about your Dad, somehow I missed that. You will be missed as we start back to school tomorrow but as Kenna said "you're skipping for a good reason". Stay warm and we will keep you in our prayers.
