late start

on thursdays the staff have devotions in the church and staff meeting soo school starts one hour later. we forgot that :( that means the girls got to help me package the after school snack...vanilla waffers and apples. that is evensky...he wears his sweatshirt with his name on it everyday. he is karen's son and he was adopted from haiti. both of his sister's were adopted by karen also. we are planning to have a family kickball match tomorrow night and then karen makes awesome cheese cake for dessert. yeah! today i had 3 large boxes of very ripe bananas that were free from the food pantry. i took the good ones out and used them for after care snack...the rest i peeled and bagged to freeze for banana bread, muffins, cake when the other volunteers come later this month. dorothy from ada, mi will be busy baking with bananas. next week i will be baking with blueberries...they were free also. the snow is melting during the day and turning into the clay mud. yuck. james is plowing the slush away and continues to work on other maintenance jobs. there is a green house project that 2 teachers are hoping to "grow" into a community project. the soil is poor so they need to raise beds and fill with good soil/dirt. the goal would be to grow veggies for a salad bar once a week at lunch. it is hard to believe one week is almost done.
