mid week

it was hard to get up this morning and everyone was fighting so i said good bye to the darlings and walked into the kitchen ready for coffee and cornbread. yes, i was making cornbread this morning to go with the chili for lunch. i said this last year but i am impressed with the kitchen staff and their successful efforts to serve homemade food as often as they can. and there is a fresh fruit or veggie everyday. because rehoboth is a "mission school" or serves so many below income families...i think they are eligible for food donations from local food pantries and local growers. i think that is what i understand. anyway, karen is the kitchen boss and she is great at her job. tracy and hattie are the other regulars and then they count on volunteers to help serve on the line. keith kuipers served today and he has been busy this fall b/c many regular retired volunteers have not been able this season. karen prepares the morning breakfast for low income kids and full lunch and then the after school program snack. carly needed a "mental health" afternoon so she stayed with me after lunch and went to the assoc. office to stuff envelopes. she stayed focused and did a good job. jared got all his KC math and Bible done for vacation and jimmy continues to work with james...now there are some roof issues b/c of the low temps and now some thawing - perfect. clare likes her class so she stayed put in school. we are well below freezing every night still and now we are getting blamed for bringing the temps and the snow...people have said worse things about us, that's okay.
