chickens

some of the more pressing questions in life can be answered in the kitchen. many here have chickens at home. i was surprised to hear that with -17 degrees, they don't have lights or heaters..."they just snuggle up and stay warm...i check on them". karen has green eggs this morning. julie and larry: i hope you read this. so i really didn't understand the chicken before the egg or the other way around. nevertheless, i asked and was told in simple terms for all those who "act" like you know...this is the way it works. a hen has multiple eggs in her body. the shells are permeable and can be fertilized by a rooster. if you do not have a rooster then the hen lays the eggs with hard shells...and we eat them! now you know. i spend 10-20 mins every day with my face in the sun...it is my vacation too. the snow is melting and the mud is rising. every friday at 3:30pm is volunteer coffee time in the volunteer lounge. the girls on the floor belong to deanna (volunteer coordinator). tomorrow i am going to help deanna in the concession stand for the HS bball games. we ate at SALSA'S restaurant last night. the boys noticed that there were bullet holes in the front windows...the food was great. we stopped at the goodwill and the girls bought an entire wardrobe with there own $1 bills. so now i don't have to do as much laundry but we have more things to pack for home. as i write i can see the sun settingon the red rock and the colors are beautiful. rehoboth enrollment is 498...highest ever. they just completed their phone-a-thon and raised over a million applied to every student's tuition. quote for the day by a boy in Jared's class: "I wouldn't want to meet your dad in a dark alley." i guess it's time to go to walmart and buy a clipper. i told him to bring clothes with no holes!? we are on vacation...!!!
