the best kept secret...Ft. Worth
We started at the Gun Discount Store called "Cheaper than Dirt." It had cool stuff but we are actually cheaper than dirt. Next stop was the Ft. Worth Stock Yards and everything I learned about the real wild west started to come back. The words Swift Armour brought it all back. Old Town Ft. Worth with the stock yards and coliseum was cool. At 11:30am everyday they let out about 20 long horn steer and move them to another lot...they walk right down the middle of the brick road. We got to pet "Big Jake"---big long horn that will be in some part of the SuperBowl. Fabulous food lunch at The Love Shack across from Old Ft. Worth Hotel. check out www.cheftimlove.com and see all the yum yums. Then we went to visit the campus of Texas Christian University. Beautiful campus. We stepped out of the campus book store to see a police escort lead the "B" team on 3 greyhounds to the airport. Sorry to be "B" I guess...the "A" team had an actual parade send-off on Christmas Day! Then we went to the Omni Max Theater to see the Mystery of the Nile. No one ever fells good after those things...now we are home eating awesome salsa before dinner. Sunny and 70...I was meant to be a debutant in Texas. I think it is our new favorite state.

This is great reading. I think some of our eating habits may be changing however. Melinda seems to agree with your rules on fries and soda.
ReplyDeleteKeep the posts coming - the Bairds are enjoying traveling with the Dirksens! All is well in Portage, but you did miss the earthquake this morning. It was actually centered near Kokomo, IN, (3.8) but I definitely felt it here - very strange feeling! Safe travels!
