very cool

i have something very cool to say. last night we ate with deanna's family. her gramma is 86 and she had 14 children. most of them are rehoboth alumni. deanna's oldest aunt and husband sat with us at dinner and he asked how we came to rehoboth. our original connection was from james' family in alamosa, CO. James' great grandpa worked here at rehoboth in the 1930's as a caretaker. i went on to mention that we have navajo artifacts passed down from the family. our favorite is a snake that is widdled from a tree root. both of their faces lit up and said they are familiar with them. his dad used to widdle roots. i said the name vaniwaarden and he said, "that man was a trader and my dad knew him." so, it is possible that we know where the root came from. that is very cool.
