sunny topsail island!

had breakfast in hotel, drove south to winston salem and accross on 40. we ate at Smithfield's BBQ at exit 364. it is a favorite of mine. james says it is overpriced - but this is what we do on the way to the beach house every time. the BBQ at smithfield's is "eastern NC" which is a vinegar based sauce....actually it is a bit drier than a tomatoe base BBQ. i love it. with slaw on the sandwich...hushpuppies and fries with sweet tea. no, i don't like sweet tea. that is when i had to explain the phrase, "when in rome..." jared said that was dumb and said he won't go to rome or drink sweet tea! i like to experience my travels through food - i orderd it so james made me drink it. the house look fabulous! fresh paint, new windows, clean and perfect. we have walked the beach, found treasures, and had mass taco night. more come tomorrow.
