good stuff
we had a great weekend. we acted like a regular instead of a tourist...however, i'm sure we still looked like a tourist. friday night kickball and cheese cake was fab. saturday we went to the gallop flea market. oh man...the mud! a few highlights include tires, jewlry, dogs, fry bread, knives, tools, dogs, mud, SUNSHINE, tamales...like shipshewana but with a native twist. clare and i worked in the hs concession stand for a few hours during basketball games. four generations of native people working...frybread with a hot dog in it is popular. it was fun. we went to stacy and dirk hollebeek's house for dinner. james and i were at calvin with stacy. their oldest is in carly's class. it was fun to see a residential home- adobe with a slight pottery barn feel. stacy teahces at rehoboth part time and dirk has been on the school board. no surprise we talked school?! good stuff. we went to the pond to ice skate sunday morning before church...a great message from pastor byker. abby invited us to their small group lunch at deyoung's home. she teaches choir and counselos and he is the IT guy. there was a short reflection on the pastor's message after we ate. chris interested us in the stories of "res dogs"...reservation dogs are everywhere and some not so nice. a man was walking before christmas and they believe he had a seizure but the dogs finished him off. where is bob barker?? some are provoked on trails and hikes by these res dogs. i think it is a great team name for one of the kids this sports season..."the res dogs". sunday night we brought our snow stuff to church to skate at the pond after. jared volunteered prayer for doug doorn and his family at church and the rehoboth community is lifting the entire family right now. the snow fell again last night and morning...boo...the sun shines and it all goes away...yeah.
